A holistic approach to care

Inna Veterinary Acupuncture and Mobile Medical Services offers a full range of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) for pets, all in the comfort of your own home. TCVM is a practice that’s existed for thousands of years as a way to treat illness in animals. It was adapted from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the version used for people. The practice is based on the Daoist worldview that the body is a microcosm of the larger, surrounding universe. Much of the modern research into TCM and TCVM has looked into a variety of reasons for the efficacy of these methods.

The Four Branches of TCVM

  • The Four Branches of TCVM Acupuncture – The use of thin needles at specific points on the body called acupoints or meridian channels

  • Chinese herbal medicine – The utilization of Chinese herbs known for their medicinal properties in specific combinations to treat a particular disease’s symptoms and return balance to the system as a whole

  • Tui Na – A form of Chinese medical massage over acupressure points along certain meridians to promote the circulation of Qi and energy flow

  • Diet or food therapy – The use of specific energy within food to treat an individual pet’s needs and restore balance
     

More On Tui Na Acupressure Massage

Using the practice of Tui Na, my goal is to achieve a better outcome and teach owners how to care for their pets in between acupuncture sessions. This method is also useful for pets who do not tolerate acupuncture needles well. Just like in traditional acupuncture, Tui Na is meant to move energy (Qi) and resolve blockage/stagnation that leads to pain and inflammation.
